I suffer seeing the news.

Poverty, hunger, disease, refugees, deforestation, pollution, desertification, species extinction… the list goes on and on.

These are international problems, which need global solutions. But countries have competing interests. Political solutions will be slow to arrive. Meanwhile, it is the NGOs that are trying to solve them.

As an individual, I can do little. I can donate money or time to NGOs, but my contribution does not have enough impact to make a difference. I want to do more. In addition, most of the planet’s population does not have the time or money to donate, and yet they are affected by these problems.

This project is a consequence of all the above. If it thrives, NGOs will have a new way to raise funds for their causes. And people who can not donate, can contribute simply by using the app.

In addition, it is the users who decide, with their votes, the NGOs to which the donations will go. This is fundamental for several reasons:

  • The opinion of everyone counts. Some will be more sensitive to the problem of poverty, others to ecological matters, others to rare diseases… Here everyone counts.

  • Voting is on a world scale. It reinforces the idea that we are all inhabitants of the same world, with common problems, which we must confront together. Promotes global awareness.

Will the Project prosper?

To answer this, we must answer this other question: Are we willing to change our favorite messaging app, for an app that donates most of its benefits to NGOs?

Change is not easy. Probably your messaging app is better, nicer, or has features that this one does not yet have. In addition, you have all of your contacts in your app. If you move to this new app, at the beginning, there will be almost none of your friends, and using two messaging apps is uncomfortable. Oh, and this one has advertising… Uff …

In exchange, you will help NGOs improve the world. When you move to the new app, your contacts will know that you are a committed person, and you will attract more users. You’ll make the app grow, and generate more funds for donations.

I think it’s worth it.
